look at that owl!
owl sightings
we parked the car in hampden to head into a toddler birthday party. my wife said "look at that owl" and my brain was like really? at 3 pm in the middle of hampden? alas it was not, just a metal owl nailed into a electrical pole right above us.
but it did remind me of the last time i saw an owl, and that was in hampden! at our old house on 37th street after a long night out at the local watering holes we were hanging out on our back deck. the distinct sound of an owl caught our attention. we looked up into the alley at the telephone lines and electrical poles, and staring right back at us was an owl. an absolute magical scene. i'll never forget it.
i haven't seen one since, but occasionally at my new house i'm awoke by their sound. i turn on the merlin app, and sure enough it's confirmed that there's a barred owl in my yard. i don't do anything but let them enjoy the dark quiet of the night. i know i'll see one again one day.
